I called the daycare providers to find out if they had given Jr. Puff his pacifier at all and they did not.
My husband picked him up from daycare, he asked for his pacifier in the car. My husband told him that the cat ate it. That was it.
He got home, he saw a picture of a cat, instantly he remembered that the cat ate his pacifier and started asking for it again. We sat down with him and explained to him that he was a big big boy now and he didn't need it anymore. He could have it at bedtime if he wanted.
(I don't think that going cold turkey would be fair).
Since it had now been about 24 hours since he had, had his pacifier - we decided it was time to reward him for his great behaviour and gave him a little present. We made sure that he understood it was because he was a good boy and that we were very proud of him and the fact that he had not been using his pacifier.
AND THEN HE GOT TIRED!
Once he got tired, he REALLY started to ask about his pacifier. We told him that he would get it once he was ready for bed. We got him ready for bed, gave him his pacifier and he was happy.
This morning when he woke up he had it in his mouth. I asked him to give it to me, he did. Of course, he wanted it right back, but once again I explained that he was a big boy and he could only have it at sleep time.
So far so good.
Let's see what the rest of the day brings.
